Botafogo is the champion of the 2024 Rio Cup. The black and white team beat Boavista again, in a duel today (31), at Nilton Santos, and took the tournament trophy. The 2-0 triumph was built with goals from Tchê Tchê, from a penalty, and Kauê.

General Severiano’s team had already won the first game, last Wednesday, in Saquarema, 4-0. The Taça Rio was played between the teams that came from fifth to eighth place in the first round of Carioca, and gives place next year’s Copa do Brasil.

Patrick de Paula, who hadn’t played since February last year, returned to action. The midfielder, who injured the lateral collateral ligament, the cruciate, both menisci (medial and lateral) and the femoral condyle, had to undergo surgery and a long recovery period.
