The United States does not believe that war is looming between Russia and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
As Day.Az reports with reference to TASS, this was emphasized by the US Permanent Representative to NATO Julianne Smith.
“Much is being done to strengthen our defenses and [потенциала] deterrence, but we are not signaling to anyone that war is coming,” she said at an online briefing for journalists, answering a question about the threat of a military conflict involving the Russian Federation and NATO. “Currently, we see that Russia is fully invested <...> inside Ukraine. And we now have no indicators or warnings that a Russian war is looming on NATO territory. I want to make this clear,” the State Department official said.
In addition, commenting on the arguments of French President Emmanuel Macron about the possibility of deploying Western troops on Ukrainian territory, the American diplomat assured that Washington still has no such plans. “The United States does not support sending troops to fight in Ukraine. We have been clear from day one: we are not interested in becoming a party to this conflict,” Smith said.
