The BFS can change the supplier of the VAR technology if it finds a new and better supplier, it became clear after today’s meeting of the executive committee of the Bulgarian Football Union. Confirmed as the first vice president of the headquarters, Atanas Furnadjiev, is tasked to head a commission to check and find out what conditions can be found in offers from competitors of the current technology partner for video assistant referees (VAR).

Furnadzhiev stated that the BFS is satisfied with the Hawk-Eye company, but other possibilities are also being examined.

“First of all, the contract with Hawk-Eye is until the end of next year or until the final of the 2024/25 championship, so we are secured with the current VAR system until the end of next season. And it is absolutely normal when we go to we are renewing a contract, to see what the competition is offering. And to get the best terms for BFS. So with this very purpose a committee was made to negotiate and check. We are happy with the current partner, but we still need to know and the conditions of the competitors,” Furnadzhiev said.

The new first vice-president of the BFS said that he has an idea for the placement of more cameras in the stadiums and especially those on the line of ambush. But he added that everything is a matter of financing and agreeing on the conditions
