Comedian Park Se-mi confessed to being a victim of a lease scam.
On the 2nd, the YouTube channel ‘Hello Semi’ said, ‘From the auction to the landlord’s name change. A video titled ‘I really want to give up’ was uploaded. In the video, Park Se-mi said, “In fact, she was the victim of a rental fraud.” She said, “I still get scammed a lot. “I heard that 5 out of 10 people around me were affected,” she added.
He continued, “Everyone’s story of how they became a charter fraud is different. “If you listen to what I’m talking about and think that I solved it this way or that, and follow along, you could end up ruined,” he advised. “Instead, I hope you are aware that this process, period, and failure occurred,” he added.
Park Se-mi said, “I first thought it was a lease scam about two months after I moved. “I got a call from the bank where I got the loan,” he confessed. “Even now that I think about it, I think it’s something that the real estate agent or the landlord tells me. The bank said, ‘The landlord has changed. “They said, ‘We have the document contract from the changed landlord,’ so I casually said ‘yes’ and passed it on,” he recalled.
He continued, “Then a mail arrived from the court. They told me to fill out the ‘Rights Report and Dividend Request Form’. They said the house was put up for auction. I was living there, but this house had been put up for auction. “He said that if I buy a house, he will give me the first choice and buy it at a cheaper price,” he explained.
At this time, Park Se-mi found out that the lease was a fraud, and the landlord even changed her name. “The bank asked if the landlord had changed his name. I didn’t know (the name change). I noticed that the name under which I bought the building was different from the name of the contractor, so I heard that the name had been changed. They said that in order to confirm the name change, you need to obtain a copy of the landlord’s resident registration. I can’t contact you, how can I get it back? “At that time, I really thought I was going to explode,” he recalled.
He continued, “It was right around the corner, and I thought, ‘What should I do?’ However, mine was a very unique case and it was an extension for warranty fulfillment. Fortunately, they said there was no need to verify home ownership. “So, it was a special case where the landlord did not have to confirm whether or not he had changed his name,” he explained.
Park Se-mi said, “I was given a moving date, but it wasn’t all smooth sailing. “It was a mess,” he confessed. Park Se-mi, who received her rental deposit back after many twists and turns, said, “Oh, it’s really over.” Park Se-mi said, “Luckily, I received the deposit. He decided not to waste the money and donate it to housing support projects. “The rest of the money will be used to volunteer for abandoned dogs.”
