The Cabinet Committee on Government Procurement has approved 10 procurement proposals including import of three cargoes of LNG in three separate proposals. The total cost of these 10 purchase proposals will be 3 thousand 112 crores 57 lakhs 98 thousand 207 taka.

The proposals were approved in the committee meeting held under the chairmanship of Finance Minister Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali in the conference room of the Cabinet Division at the Secretariat on Wednesday (April 3) morning. Committee members, senior secretaries of cabinet departments, secretaries of concerned ministries and senior officers were present in the meeting.

At the end of the meeting, the coordination and reform secretary of the cabinet department M. Mahmudul Hossain Khan highlighted the various aspects of the approved proposals.

The Secretary said, in the meeting, under the ‘Increasing Rapid Supply of Electricity and Energy (Special Provisions) (Amendment) Act-2021’, three separate proposals (13, 14 and 15 of 2024) from the spot market have been approved for import of LNG.

He said that when the quotation was called for the 13th cargo LNG of 2024, 2 companies responded to it. Among them, Singapore-based Vital Asia Pvt Ltd quoted a price of USD 9.6800 per unit and Switzerland-based TotalEnergies Gas & Power quoted a price of USD 9.6900 per unit. In the bid proposal, Vital Asia Pvt Ltd will be the lowest bidder to supply one cargo of LNG. One cargo equal to 33,60,000 MMBTU gas import will cost 418 crore 59 lakh 41 thousand 760 taka.

The secretary said that Switzerland-based TotalEnergies Gas and Power Limited will supply one cargo (14th) of LNG by participating in another tender. The company became the lowest bidder by quoting the price of LNG at USD 9.8900 per unit. Singapore-based company Vital Asia Pvt Ltd was the second lowest with a price of 10.3677 USD per unit. In this situation, TotalEnergies Gas and Power Limited will be the lowest bidder to supply one cargo of LNG. The total cost will be 427 crore 67 lakh 52 thousand 480 taka.

He said 3 companies participated in the tender for another cargo (15th of 2024) of LNG. Among them, Singapore-based Gunvar Singapore Pvt Ltd quoted US$9.4965 per unit, Vital Asia Singapore at US$9.5800 and US-based Accelerate Energy LP at US$10.0853.

Gunvar Singapore Private Limited, as the lowest bidder in the tender, will supply this one cargo of LNG. The total cost will be 410 crore 65 lakh 90 thousand 488 taka.
