Bats are extraordinary beings and fundamental for the balance of the ecosystem, because they help control pests… This year, the Chapultepec Forest Festival resumes the theme from March 28 to 31.

Chiroptera” Chapultepec Forest Festival 2024 offers from Thursday more than 200 free cultural and recreational activities for the whole family, including conferences, exhibitions, concerts and more.

The objective of spread the importance of bats in ecological balancein addition to raising awareness about its conservation, stated the head of Government of Mexico City, Martí Batres Guadarrama, at the opening to the public of “Quiróptera” Festival del Bosque de Chapultepec 2024.

The offer includes 100 workshops, theater presentations, acrobatic casts, dance performances, musical concerts and evening picnics with live musical cinema in a bat atmosphere, as well as a special evening concert in front of the Altar to the Homeland.

The Festival will have various headquarters located in the First and Second Sections of the Chapultepec Forest: in the Altar to the Fatherland, Site Museum, People’s Kiosk, Porrúa Bookstore, Audiorama, Botanical Garden, Chapultepec Zoo, Los Pinos Cultural Center, Center of Environmental Culture, Museum of Natural History and Environmental Culture, and the Great Lake.

This festival is dedicated to bats because they are fascinating beings that, in addition to playing a leading role in culture through cinema and literature, are essential for maintaining ecological balance.

Mexico has 140 species of bats, which are the most important pest controllers and seed dispersers in the world.

Some of them, the lesser magueyero, false woolly vampire, guanero, shopkeeper, older fisherman, northern desert and snowy or gray-haired, can be seen in monumental figures installed in the Puerta de los Leones, Site Museum, Botanical Garden, Zoo, Terraces , Natural History Museum and Composers Walk.
