In 2005, Saurav Ganguly, who was out of form, returned to the Indian team after scoring runs in the Ranji Trophy and started scoring big scores. In this context, BCCI President Ganguly recently said that those in form like Rahane and Pujara should prove themselves by playing in the Ranji Trophy.
Ganguly interview:
“Pujara and Rahane are both great players,” he told a private newspaper. I hope they play better in the Ranji Trophy and accumulate runs. They can. They should definitely participate in the Ranji Trophy. There are a few more who will be out of form and will have to prove their mettle by participating in the Ranji Trophy, ”he said.
The word ‘some’ includes the name of Hardik Pandya. He has not participated in the last few series. He is still training for bowling as he is still unable to bowl due to surgery he underwent in 2019. In this situation, it was assumed that he would accept Ganguly’s advice and participate in the Ranji Trophy and bowl.
As a result, Hardik has been ruled out of the Ranji Trophy following reports that he will be the captain of the Baroda team where Hardik Pandya will play as a regular. He has been replaced by Kedar Devdar as captain.
