The most anticipated night of the year in cinematographic matters did not leave anyone indifferent. Once again, the Hollywood Academy Oscars captured the attention of the entire world in this 2024 edition.

The big winner of the night was “Oppenheimer”, the Christopher Nolan film that won seven statuettes.

Best film and Best direction, as well as the respective awards for its two male actors (Cillian Murphy, the main one; and Robert Downey Jr., the supporting one). To close the harvest of this film: Best photography, best editing and best soundtrack.

Despite this important number of statuettes, Nolan’s film had tough competition with “Poor Creatures,” the film by Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos that took home four Oscars.

They were Best Actress for its protagonist, Emma Stone, who with this adds her second Oscar (she previously won it for “La La Land”), and the awards for Best Makeup and Hairstyling, Best Production Design and Best Costume Design.

The awards for Best Screenplay, however, went to two other films. The protagonists in this category were the French “Anatomy of a Fall” (Best Original Screenplay) and “American Fiction” (Best Adapted Screenplay).

British filmmaker Jonathan Glazer also won the awards for Best Sound and Best International Film for “The Zone of Interest.”

Also noteworthy is the Oscar that Da’Vine Joy Randolph won for Best Supporting Actress, the only one that the film “Those Who Stay” won, as well as that of Billie Eislish for her song “What Was I Made For?” the only one for this year’s big box office hit, “Barbie.”

For the fourth time, the award ceremony featured comedian Jimmy Kimmel as presenter from the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. The gala, considered by much of the press as “without fanfare,” made some nods to Trumpism and, as expected, to the “Barbie” phenomenon with Ryan Gosling performing “I’m Just Ken” that swept the scene. .

Another of the most striking moments of the night, although not referring to the awards, was the announcement of the pregnancy of actress Vanessa Hudgens. The protagonist of “High School Musical” is going to be a mother for the first time with Cole Tucker and had kept her pregnancy a secret until now, when she showed off her beautiful mother’s curves with a look that winked at her recent wedding with the player American baseball.
