For the 9th year in a row, the Andrala puppet theater celebrates World Puppet Theater Day (March 21) through a series of events, performances and workshops, thus bringing young and old together in a collective celebration of puppet theater.
This year the celebration of puppet theater day has started at the beginning of the month with a magical “journey” of workshops in many structures of the city, such as prisons, KETHEA, ELEPAP, the mental health center, the Child Protection Unit, the KAPI , at habibi.works etc., because… in the puppet theater no one is left out.
This whole celebration will culminate in the 3-day March 29-31, where the workshops and performances will be hosted by the Municipal Regional Theater of Ioannina. Also, on Saturday, March 30, a ghostly parade will take place with the slogan “Lighten up so we don’t get lost!!!” The Andrala Puppet Theater promises an impressive parade, with fantastic recycled dolls that will start from Pargi Square and walk through the streets of the city, to end up in Litharitsia, where the parade will end with surprises and festivities.
“These days, the city will be transported to the magical world of the doll, with the aim of highlighting the art of puppet theater as a means of artistic expression and entertainment. Get ready to live an experience that transcends the limits of imagination and art. The celebration promises to leave unforgettable impressions. Come and discover together how we can recycle our imagination and bring even the simplest objects to life! We invite everyone to come and why not hold a doll too! Thursday March 28, 18:00-20:00: Workshop “Come make, play, and you’re off for the Parade” at 2 Michail Angelou and Melanidi Streets (opposite Hotel Olympic) by the Fortunati Artistic Group.
Friday March 29, 17:00-18:00: “Puppeting” workshop at the Silversmithing Museum (PIOP) from the Andrala Puppet Theater and experiential rhythmic from the workshop of Sami Hasme.
Friday March 29, 18:30-19:30: “Anacyclopoula papagalinius paper bag” workshop at the Kamperio Foundation (4th floor) by the Fortunati Artistic Group.
Saturday March 30, 11:00-12:00: Workshop “Let’s wear hats” at 2 Michail Angelou and Melanidi Streets (opposite Hotel Olympic).
Saturday March 30, 12:00-13:30: Doll-Parade.
Saturday March 30, 18:00-19:00: Circulus performance at the Kamperio Foundation (4th floor) by the troupe “Anemodura and Manivela”.
Sunday March 31, 11:00 -12:00: Workshop “Games in the light – dreams in the shadow” at the Kamperio Foundation (4th floor) by the Fortunati Artistic Group
Sunday March 31, 12:30 -13:30: Karagiozi performance at the Kamperio Foundation (4th floor) by the “Anemodoura” troupe.
