Albert Popov (Moten) and Anina Zurbrigen (Vitosha Ski) are Bulgarian champions in the slalom discipline in alpine skiing. Nearly 100 competitors from 16 nations took part in the state championship, which ended today under perfect conditions in Bansko.

The battle in men’s slalom was the most dramatic. After the first run on the “Tomba” track, Kalin Zlatkov (Yulen) was the leader. He led Albert Popov by 70 hundredths. However, in the final downhill, Popov showed that he is a world-class star and won by 17 hundredths ahead of Zlatkov. Third on 1, 82 sec is Hugh McAdam (Australia).

Konstantin Stoilov is fifth, but takes the bronze from the Bulgarian championship. The slalom title is Albert’s fourth from the Bulgarian championships.

On the women’s side, Annina Zurbriggen convincingly won the slalom by 0.98 seconds ahead of Louis Jackson (WBR) and Seren Yildirim (Tour). Second for our championship is Luisa Bertani (Vitosha Ski), and third is Mia Paul (Vitosha Ski). For Zurbriggen, this is the second title in a row in the discipline.

The men’s prize winners were awarded by Georgi Bobev, vice-president of BFSki, and the women’s by Viktor Gichev, flight director of the competition.

Before that, the medalists of the slalom and giant slalom for the Balkan Cup and the state championships for juniors and girls also received their awards. In the general classification, Seren Yildirim (Tours) is first among women, and Ioannis Antonio (Gur) among men. At the final, Georgi Bobev congratulated all the competitors, coaches and the teams organizing the competition for the difficult but successful season.

The men’s and women’s medalists from the Bulgarian championship took a souvenir photo with the finalists from the BFSki and MMS “Learn to Ski” project.
