“NATO unity is important, but real actions and concrete results are even more important,” said the Lithuanian head of diplomacy during the meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council held in Brussels on Thursday.

As reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), on Thursday G. Landsbergis also participated in the meeting of the foreign ministers of the Nordic and Baltic countries (NB8) and the commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the founding of NATO.
“Thanks to NATO, Lithuania was able to reappear on the European map as an independent and sovereign country. Unfortunately, the reality of today is such that we cannot rule out that the biggest battles and struggles of NATO are in the future,” the minister said at the festive ceremony.
“If those battles come to us and we are not prepared, that will be the biggest mistake we can make,” he added.
ELTA reminds that this week the head of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, expressed a proposal to create a 100 billion five-year fund for Ukraine, so that the Alliance would be more involved in sending arms to Kyiv. Poland has already expressed its support for J. Stoltenberg’s proposal.
On Thursday, President Gitanas Nausėda also said that he positively evaluates this proposal. According to him, this will be another tool of support for Ukraine, which will not limit the assistance provided to the country in other forms.
