BOLZANO. “The reduction of weekly working hours it is an important step to make work in the public sector even more attractive for the younger generations.” This is the comment of the category secretary Fp/Od, Angelika Hoferon the occasion of the publication of the study byIre in the workplace according to young South Tyroleans.
Indeed, the analysis revealed valuable information about young people’s expectations regarding the workplace at a time of growing shortages of skilled labor and brain drain. «It was particularly interesting to understand what young people expect in terms of pay, working environment and working hours. For these reasons it is important that employers pay more attention to the new needs of employees during contract negotiations”, explains Hofer.
According to Hofer, a fundamental point of the study is precisely the fact that in a dynamic and evolving environment, companies are called upon to rethink their strategies for recruiting and retaining young people. «Young people’s responses reflect a wide range of priorities and values. For a significant number of young people, it is important to working climate and it salary. Many others said they preferred thework balance and private life and a work environment that promotes well-being.
