The relevant decree of Prime Minister Iraklis Kobachidze was published on the Sakartveli government website, Ukrinform reports, citing the NewsGeorgia portal.

“To reject the proposal submitted by the President of Sakartvelos regarding a working visit to the Republic of Lithuania, the city of Vilnius, on April 10-12 this year,” the document says.

According to the portal, S. Zurabishvili’s relationship with the government of the ruling Sakartvelo Dream party reached its lowest point after the start of Russia’s large-scale invasion of Ukraine. The president criticized Sakartveli’s government for insufficient support for Kyiv, rapprochement with Moscow and weak efforts towards the country’s European integration. The ruling party began to block the president’s foreign visits. This was explained by the fact that she is harming the country with her statements.

S. Zurabishvili continued to visit Europe at his own expense. This provided an excuse to begin impeachment against her, which ultimately failed.

Exactly one year ago, the president of Sakartvelo visited Lithuania and other Baltic countries – also without the permission of the government.

As Ukrinform previously reported, S. Zurabishvili harshly criticized the ruling party, which said it was re-initiating the draft law on “foreign agents”.
