The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources reported on the technical visit and inspection carried out this morning in the sector of the El Carmen canton, located on the slopes of the San Salvador volcano.

According to the experts, measurements were carried out with multigas equipment which revealed only the presence of ambient CO2, within normal concentrations.

“The air that was observed coming out in the videos that circulated on social networks yesterday is due to the air that comes out of a valve in the local drinking water distribution network. When it came to the surface, it stirred up the dust in the surroundings, generating the appearance of gas or smoke emanations,” the environmental institution, regarding publications that went viral on various digital platforms, which showed the presence of a type of smoke from soil.

Likewise, the institution detailed that the temperatures in the soil remain similar to those in the environment, ranging between 29.9 °C and 31.9 °C, at the time of the inspection.

“Seismic records show normal behavior, with no indications of anomalous activity in the area,” Environment reiterated.

Likewise, the authorities reiterated the maintenance of constant monitoring in the area to provide clear and precise information about the activity in the San Salvador volcano.
