Guatemalans continue to stand out internationally by being part of large projects. This time the good news comes from biologist Daniel Núñezwho will be participating in the Santiago Wild Film Festival 2024.

Among more than 600 applicants from 34 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, the biologist Daniel Núñez has been chosen as one of the 12 scholarship recipients of the Second Audiovisual Laboratory of the Santiago Wild 2024 Film Festival.
This laboratory offers those selected the opportunity to work for 7 days in the Torres del Paine Conservation Reserve, located in the majestic Chilean Patagonia. During this time, the scholarship recipients will have the opportunity to share with experts in the media, including representatives of the media outlet Ladera Sur, National Geographic and the Jackson Wild organizationamong others.
Santiago Wild is recognized as the first film festival dedicated to wildlife and the environment in Latin America. This event, which will take place from May 9 to 23, brings together outstanding audiovisual productions and their creators both in person and online. Within the framework of this festival, the laboratory in which the Guatemalan will participate offers a platform for film experts and companies in the sector in Chilean Patagonia to share their knowledge and experiences.
In addition to the screening of a wide variety of audiovisual works, the festival will include talks and panels with national and international exhibitors, providing an ideal space for the exchange of ideas and reflection on conservation and the environment.
Daniel Núñez, a Guatemalan passionate about biology and photography
Daniel Núñez is a Guatemalan biologist who combines his passion for animals with his talent in photography. He graduated from the Universidad del Valle de Guatemala, is an expert in botany and herpetology, and shows a deep interest in conservation.
In 2022, the biologist was one of the winners of the prestigious competition Wildlife Photographer of the Year, organized by the Natural History Museum in London. Through his photographic work, she has managed to capture the beauty of a wide range of animals, including majestic quetzals, various reptiles and even imposing whales.
