In the outgoing week (March 31 to April 4), the stock market of Bangladesh traded on an upward trend. The volume of transactions with the index increased throughout the week. Besides, the market capitalization of both the stock exchanges increased by more than 1 thousand 49 crore rupees in the outgoing week. This information was revealed on the basis of DSE’s weekly market review on Saturday (April 6).

Shares and units worth Tk 2,174 crore 20 lakh 10 thousand were traded in Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) in the outgoing week. Shares and units worth Tk 1,975 crore 75 lakh 70 thousand were traded in the week before the farewell week. That is, the transaction in DSE has increased by Tk 198 crore 44 lakh 40 thousand within a week.

On the last working day of the outgoing week, the market capitalization stood at 6 lakh 79 thousand 908 crore 62 lakh taka. The market capitalization of DSE was Tk 6 lakh 79 thousand 229 crore on the last working day of the week preceding the bye week. That is, the market capital has increased by Tk 679 crore 59 lakh within a week.

During the week, the main index of DSE DSEX increased by 17.79 points or 0.31 percent to 5 thousand 796 points. Among other indices, the DSE Sharia index increased by 11.87 points or 0.95 percent to 1,266 points and the DSE-30 index increased by 3.84 points or 0.19 percent to 2,144 points.

A total of 395 shares and units of companies were traded on DSE in the outgoing week. Among them, share and unit prices increased in 188 companies, decreased in 168, remained unchanged in 39 and did not trade in 17 companies.

Another capital market Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) traded shares and units worth Tk 53 crore 72 lakh in the outgoing week. Shares and units worth Tk 97.17 crore were traded in the week before the farewell week. That is, the transaction in DSE has decreased by 43 crore 45 lakhs in a week.

On the last working day of the outgoing week, the market capitalization stood at 7 lakh 14 thousand 380 crore 32 lakh taka. The market capitalization of CSE on the last working day of the week preceding the farewell week was Tk 7 lakh 10 thousand 677 crore 18 lakh. That is, the market capital has increased by 370 crore 31 lakh taka in the span of a week.

In the week, the overall index of CSE CASPI increased by 61 points or 0.36 percent to 16 thousand 614 points. Among other CSE indices, CSCX rose 0.42 percent to 9,993 points, CSE-30 index rose 0.08 percent to 12,712 points and CSI index rose 0.96 percent to 1,844 points.

A total of 310 shares and units of companies participated in trading on CSE in the outgoing week. Among them, the share and unit prices of 134 companies increased, 148 decreased and 28 remained unchanged.
