The secretary of the Democratic Party Elly Schlein, guest of Bruno Vespa on Cinque Minuti, denied the rumors that spoke of Ilaria Salis’s candidacy as leader of the Democratic Party in the next European elections. “There are no negotiations underway. I met Ilaria’s father to discuss how we can help remove her from the condition she finds herself in.”
Responding to a question about her possible candidacy for the European elections, the secretary of the Democratic Party said: “As always said, we are building the team because in a party that is not personal but plural the first thing that comes is the team”. So, you added: “I will make my evaluation once we have completed the team.”
On the possible introduction of the ballot for the election of the prime minister, Schlein said that it would not change the Democratic Party’s mind. “The reform is wrong, a premiership that behind the easy slogan of ‘you decide’ hides a gigantic ‘I decide for you’. It is a reform that weakens Parliament, the President of the Republic… We are against it”. Schlein concluded: “If you really want to give more power to citizens, let’s change the electoral law and give citizens back the power to choose parliamentarians.”
Finally, healthcare: one of the elements of “greatest fracture” with the government. “It is not possible to have to wait a year and a half to have a specialist exam: it means eliminating prevention. Those with a fat wallet can go for private treatment, the others have to give up”, said Schlein.
