Polish farmers have resumed blocking the Dolgobychev-Ugrinov checkpoint on the border with Ukraine and are not allowing freight transport through. This was announced by the representative of the State Border Service of Ukraine Andrey Demchenko, Day.Az reports with reference to TASS.
According to him, on April 2, Ukrainian border guards received information from colleagues from Poland that Polish farmers would resume blocking this checkpoint for trucks from 09:00 Moscow time.
“The passage of cargo vehicles will be carried out as follows: leaving Poland – three trucks per six hours, towards Poland – one truck per day,” Demchenko indicated to the Ukrayinska Pravda publication. “Passing passenger vehicles and buses in both directions will be carried out in accordance with the established procedure.”
As Ukrayinska Pravda clarified, as of the morning of April 2, three directions were blocked for Ukrainian trucks: checkpoints Ugrinov, Yagodin and Rava-Russkaya.
Since November 2023, Polish carriers and farmers have periodically held demonstrations, blocking checkpoints on the border with Ukraine. Farmers demand to limit or completely ban the import of cheap agricultural products from Ukraine. Another protest against the import of Ukrainian agricultural products was announced throughout the country from February 9 to March 10. The protest was supported by the leadership of the Ministry of Agriculture of Poland. As Verkhovna Rada deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak reported, the total losses of the state budget of Ukraine due to the blockade of checkpoints on the Polish border amounted to more than $523 million. The damage for March, according to calculations by the head of the parliamentary committee on finance, Daniil Getmantsev, will amount to another $166.8 million.
