The Sheki State Drama Theater hosted a performance of the play “Khanuma” by the Azerbaijan State Academic National Drama Theater, Day.Az reports. The tour was organized by the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan in honor of World Theater Day.
The main goal is to intensify cultural life in the regions of the country, improve the quality of leisure for the population, especially young people, create conditions for close communication with creative groups and exchange of useful experience.
People’s artists Besti Jafarova, Jafar Namig Kemal, Haji Ismailov, Saida Gulieva, Kyazym Abdullayev, honored artists Metanet Atakishieva, Masma Aslangyzy, Elshan Rustamov, Elshan Jabrailov, Shalala Shahveledgyzy, Elnar Garaev, actors Ramin Shikhaliev, Vusal Mustafayev, Elchin Efendi performed in the performance. , Tural Ibrahimov and Vyafa Aliyeva, teacher of music school No. 2 of the city of Sheki. The performance is based on the work of the same name by Avksentiy Tsagareli, written in 1882. This is a funny story about the never-dull and enterprising matchmaker Khanuma, which takes place in Tiflis (Tbilisi). Prince Pantiashvili squandered his entire fortune. There is only one way out – to urgently marry a rich girl. The matchmaker Khanuma takes up the matter, finding a bride for him named Guliko. Another matchmaker – Kabato, Hanuma’s rival – wants to marry the prince to his candidate Sonya. But Kote, Pantiashvili’s nephew, who earns his bread by honest work, is in love with Sona. At the same time, Hanuma, wanting to hinder his rival and at the same time help the young lovers, decides to spoil the prince’s matchmaking. On the day of the audition, she dresses up and pretends to be Sona. Seeing the old, crooked and lame bride, the prince refuses to marry her…
