Through a statement, Cobreloa delivered the results of the internal investigation into a group rape complaint.
Copperloa faces a serious complaint from a young woman, who in September 2021 accused of having been a victim of a “pack” rape by eight club cadet players inside the Orange House.
This case was closed without any guilty parties in the first instance. However, in 2023 the investigation was reopened due to possible flaws in the investigation. After that, the board of directors of the northern club hired a external law firm to carry out a complete investigation.
In this sense, Cobreloa, through a statement, stated that on January 11 “it was decided to rely on the services of the Colombara Legal Strategy office, a team that carried out the internal investigation based on testimonies, documents and press reports, among others“. In this way, “the conclusions were reflected in a 193-page report, which has already been delivered to the club’s board of directors.”
Likewise, they clarify that it is the Public Ministry that has the resources and management of the police to carry out a more extensive investigation with better background to establish if there is any type of crime. However, they gave their view on the events through this internal investigation.
The results of Cobreloa’s internal investigation
Along these lines, the club maintains that “from the information collected It was not possible to prove in the barbecue in question whether the abuse or violation was committed“.
Regarding the young woman’s complaint, the report detailed that “the club’s Legal Directorate would have become aware of the complaint in the letter of January 2023, and immediately filed a criminal complaint with the Public Ministry.”

The investigation also addresses the case of María Saavedra, mother of a former Cobreloa cadet, one of the driving forces behind the dissemination of this complaint. Regarding her, the report indicates that her complaint is “motivated by personal and economic interests“.
Based on the above, the legal study recommended take legal action against the woman.
