Chairman of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) Noor Mohammad Majumdar has urged the passengers not to pay extra fare in public transport during the Eid journey. He said that he will complain to the vigilance team if he demands extra rent.
On Saturday (April 6), he visited the capital’s Gabtoli bus terminal and told the passengers.
Chairman of BRTA said, you will pay the fare by looking at the chart. Don’t pay an extra rupee. If anyone claims extra fare, complain to our vigilance team before ticketing. If there is no solution after this, strict action will be taken by our higher authority.
Unfit vehicles are not allowed to enter the road, he said, adding that we have kept the local administration under surveillance to stop the places where unfit vehicles try to leave.
Noor Mohammad Majumdar said, there is no opportunity to get off unfit cars on Eid. If anyone finds out, strict action will be taken immediately by the local administration.
He said that he has asked the garment owners to give requisitions so that the unfit can take the BRTC bus instead of taking a car.
During Eid some unfit vehicles come down on the road, this complaint is every year, Nur Mohammad said, mentioning that, this time we have kept 550 buses of BRTC in reservation so that unfit vehicles cannot come down on the road.
Chairman of BRTA said, every year we visit these terminals to make people’s Eid journey comfortable. Here (Gabatali Bus Terminal) our Mobile Court, Vigilance Team, Monitoring Team are working. I visited various ticket counters here, most places are charging low fares.
Noor Mohammad Majumdar said that the route was written wrongly in two places. Therefore, I have asked those two institutions to be fined. There is not much crowd of passengers here. I don’t see complaints of excess rent either.
The fare list has been hung on every counter by BRTA, he said adding that it is being watched by our magistrate and vigilance team members. Owners Association leaders are also serious about this, so that they don’t get bad name.
Chairman of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority Noor Mohammad Majumdar also expressed hope that this year’s Eid journey will be safe, smooth and comfortable.
