With a year delay in relation to the assurances, which existed until the middle of 2023, the activation of the natural gas network in Ioannina will actually begin, which apparently has to do with the acquisition of DEDA by Italgas and the creation of the natural gas company Enaon EDA gas.
With the exception of some activations, which concern a handful of industrial users, the program will run from 2025, when a large number of residential and commercial users are expected to be connected. The second element, which changes in the planning, is that the completion of the development of the network will be extended until 2018. Something similar also applies to Arta, Preveza and Igoumenitsa, where infrastructure will also be created for the storage of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and medium and low pressure network will be developed for its distribution.
According to what emerges from the new Development Program of enaon EDA for the period 2024-2028, which was submitted for public consultation by the Waste, Energy and Water Regulatory Authority, total investments are planned for Epirus
43.5 million euros with 183 kilometers of network and 4,294 new connections. Within 2024, the connection and activation of VI.PE is planned. Ioannina, while at the same time the expansion and densification of the network in the cities of Ioannina, Arta, Preveza and Igoumenitsa. In 2025, the connection and activation of the network of all four cities is planned, while all the projects are planned to be completed by 2028.
In the next period, it is expected that there will be a visit of Enaon EDA to Epirus, something that the managing director of the company, Francesca Zaninotti, had made known to the deputy regional governor P.E. Artas Vassilis Psathas, who visited her in Athens. During the visit, it is expected that more details will be known about the planning, which does not change in terms of the additions of areas of the Municipal Unit of Passarona of the Municipality of Zitsa and the university campus.
