The meeting in Brussels once again showed that Western circles are forced to reckon with the policies of President Ilham Aliyev.
As Day.Az reports, Deputy Director of AMI Trend, political commentator Sahil Karimli told AZERTAC.
“Despite the fact that the meeting held in Brussels between the United States, the European Union and Armenia was stated to be of an economic nature, it is no secret that these contacts are directed against Azerbaijan, and, to be specific, deal a serious blow to peace in the South Caucasus. Although the results of the meeting and the details of the discussions are kept secret, undoubtedly, after some time confidential issues will become known,” he said.
According to the political commentator, Azerbaijan’s decisive position and its harsh reaction on the eve of this meeting forced the United States and the European Union to take a step back, making a number of statements.
“We have once again witnessed that Western circles are forced to reckon with the decisive and principled policy pursued by the President of Azerbaijan, based on the national interests of the country. The Azerbaijani state, after the historic victory in the second Karabakh war, formed new realities in the region. Of course, the one who formed these realities, he must manage the processes. Anti-Azerbaijani forces may not digest these realities, but it is impossible not to take them into account,” S. Karimli said.
He noted that the United States and the EU, which have turned Armenia into a tool for realizing their interests, are interested in creating a conflict in the South Caucasus, inciting a new source of conflict and thereby establishing hegemony in the region. “It is a fact that against the backdrop of arming Armenia, providing this country with open financial support, and reaching secret agreements in Brussels, our region is facing serious threats. Azerbaijan, as in previous periods, will destroy the insidious plans of the West, and its intention to create tension in the Caucasus will fail,” said the political commentator.
