Retail sales in the eurozone decreased by 0.5% in February compared to the previous month, the statistical office of the European Union (Eurostat) reported.

As Day.Az reports with reference to Interfax, analysts on average predicted a reduction of 0.4%, according to Trading Economics.

According to the revised data, the figure remained unchanged in January, while an increase of 0.1% was previously reported.

Sales of food, beverages and tobacco products in February decreased by 0.4%, non-food products – by 0.2%. Sales of motor fuel fell by 1.4%, which was the largest decline since August last year.

Retail sales in the eurozone fell 0.7% in February compared with the same month in 2023, according to Eurostat. Experts expected a fall of 1.3%.

A decrease in the indicator in annual terms was recorded for the seventeenth month in a row. In January, according to updated data, it fell by 0.9% (a reduction of 1% was previously announced).

Retail sales in the European Union countries in February decreased by 0.4% over the month and by 0.2% over the year.
