Everyone’s eyes were on Kevin Porter, however Lavrio celebrated the victory over PAOK (89-85) and caught him after the second matchday of the Stoiximan Basket League playouts.
The matches between Lavrio and PAOK have, traditionally, great interest. On Saturday afternoon (6/4), however, their response was special.
Kevin Porter made his debut with the Thessaloniki team, but it was the hosts who smiled in the final. They won 89-85 for the second game of the Stoiximan Basket League playouts and improved to 9-15 (7-6 home and 2-9 away) to catch their opponents to the same record (7-5 home and 2-10 out) in the battle for the playoffs.
PAOK’s new American finished the game with 14 points (3/7 two-pointers, 2/7 three-pointers, 2/3 shots), four rebounds, four assists, two steals, two fouls and five turnovers in just under 26 minutes.
Muratos with an amazing all-around appearance (19 points, 3/5 two-pointers, 4/7 three-pointers, 1/1 shooting, 5 rebounds, 8 assists) and Thornton (16 points) made the difference in favor of the hosts, who closed the forty minutes with 50% on three-pointers (13/26) and with 30 points from PAOK’s mistakes.
The Thessalonians were low in the regional shootout (7/24), but they fought until the final and almost achieved the upset thanks to the combativeness of their new star.
