Dortmund – On Saturday evening (April 6th), Borussia Dortmund also lost the third competitive game of the season against VfB Stuttgart. Overall, BVB didn’t deliver a bad performance against VfB. Gregor Kobel: Dortmund’s number 1 returned to the starting line-up after recovering from a gastrointestinal illness. Had basically nothing to do in the first half. Guirassy converted VfB’s first really dangerous shot on goal into the corner to make it 0-1 (64′). A decent save from Undav’s header (70′), otherwise he couldn’t stand out. Note: 3,5
Julian Ryerson: Defensively not always safe. Leweling’s mistake opened up his chance (50′). When going forward with one or two crosses, it rarely became dangerous for VfB Stuttgart’s goal. Note: 3,5

Mats Hummels: Back in the starting line-up after the gigantic performance of the victory in Munich. Once again very sure that the coordination with colleague Schlotterbeck is working. His buttery cross made Adeyemi’s great chance possible after half an hour. He shouldn’t be blamed. Note: 2,5
Nico Schlotterbeck: Really good performance, won spectacular duels. Must make it 1-1 from very close range despite a short reaction time. A costly miss in the 81st minute. Therefore “only” in the individual criticism Note: 3

BVB individual criticism against VfB Stuttgart: Maatsen grounded – Can with an expensive loss of the ball
Ian Maatsen: Not as noticeable offensively as usual, defensively he had problems with Leweling. During the VfB counterattack to make it 0-1, the midfield had no access and was then completely missing at the back. The shine of his first weeks in Dortmund is currently evaporating a little. Note: 4
Emre Can: Great long-range shot after 13 minutes. Had to have his head treated after an aerial duel with Guirassy, but bit his teeth. Overall, a good, fighting performance from the captain for an hour. Bitter: His loss of the ball gave VfB the lead and was decisive in the end. Marcel Sabitzer: Returned to the team after serving a red card suspension. Poisonous in duels, not always completely confident in the passing game. And with an opening brilliant pass, Jadon Sancho missed the chance (52nd). A passable performance until he had to leave the pitch after a good hour. Note: 3,5
Karim Adeyemi: He replaced the injured Donyell Malen again. I really wanted to take the penalty against Mittelstädt and therefore didn’t get it. Should have behaved smarter here (5.). Left the big chance to make it 1-0 (32nd). Overall, very busy and committed, won the most duels of all BVB players (12). Note: 2,5

Julian Brandt: His corners usually came quite dangerously into the VfB penalty area, but without producing anything countable. Out of the game with no creative ideas. Rubbed himself up, remained pale. Couldn’t stop Leweling from crossing at 0-1. Substituted shortly afterwards. Note: 4,5
Jadon Sancho: Worked against VfB Stuttgart primarily in a team-friendly manner. Great statistics in the duel, passing and running game. After Brandt was eliminated, he took over all the corners and always brought them dangerously into the box. In the final phase he fought back against defeat. Most running BVB player on the pitch (12 kilometers). Only the decisive actions were missing. Note: 3

Niclas Füllkrug: Apart from a few header chances, there wasn’t much from him. When he was seen, it was often from set pieces or from crosses (4 shots on goal in total). Then he usually cut an unhappy figure and presented himself as a poor finisher. Otherwise hardly involved in the BVB game. Note: 5
Felix Finish: Came on for Julian Brandt after 65 minutes. Appeared dangerously in front of the guest goal several times at set pieces. There was a lack of luck and precision at the end. Note: 3
