It is true that I started as an assistant director, but now I feel that direction is not my cup of tea. If I ever get a chance to direct, I will first write a script myself. If a good script is written then I will direct it. Right now I don’t know what I will do but I will keep doing something in the creative field. Apart from this, we have to do our business.

I played the role of Dinesh in the film Fight Club, which was very dangerous. Even today people remember that character. It means a lot to me. The film may not have done well at the box office but was very much liked on TV. Not only this, in my first film Inteha also my role was of gray shade. I have no qualms about playing negative roles. If any good and strong negative character comes to me then I will definitely do it.

Controversy definitely causes harm
I believe that controversy is rarely beneficial. There is only loss. Same thing happened with me too. Many such incidents happened to me 15 years ago. I think it caused damage but never estimated how much. At that time social media was not so popular, so morning news used to be published till evening but today it is not so. The news platform has become very big. On social media, news about the country and the world is available within a second. Now the news circle is not of 24 hours, it is just of ten minutes. One news comes, there is a debate on it for ten minutes, then another news comes, people start debating on it. Because of this, gossip and controversies no longer last long.
People can’t watch every movie in theater
The audience goes to the theater to watch only those films which are action-oriented or based on historical background. Larger than life films are mostly played in theatres. With the advent of OTT, low budget films are also reaching the audience. There are many films which did not run as well in theaters as they did on OTT. Just look at ’12th Fail’ which came recently. It was liked a lot because of the strong script and excellent acting. One more thing, the arrival of OTT has benefited the audience, they are getting to watch good content and people associated with the film industry are getting work. Overall, OTT has brought cinema into the hands of every person.

Last year in February, one of my films, Sector Balakot, came out. After that I took a break. Meanwhile, I worked on my music because I love it. Which person would not like music? From children to elders, everyone likes some kind of music. Music has a different space in my life too. I do DJing, so I did a lot of touring during this time. Started a music production. Currently, we organize events under our production and manage the artists. I started other small businesses. Actually, I believe that life is one, whatever you get, keep doing it.
Lucknow has made a lot of progress
When I came to Lucknow after about three years, I was surprised to see the development. So much development has taken place from roads to buildings that it does not seem that this is the same Lucknow which I had seen three years ago. The biggest thing is that this change is positive. I felt very happy seeing this.
Look at yourself instead of the character.
Recently, my web series ‘State vs Ahuja’ came. When I read the script I liked it very much. Basically, this is the story of a film star who faces an allegation that ruins his entire life. I have never played a character like this till date and secondly, it is also relatable because the phase that the character in the film goes through, I have gone through in real life. Let’s just say that when I associated myself with this role, I found it to be a challenging role. I felt that only I could do this character so I said yes. Let me clarify one more thing that this is not based on any real incident. It’s just a fiction film.
