Penipe, Chimborazo. After several years of waiting, 20 families from Penipe – including six who lost their homes due to a flood and 14 who were in vulnerable conditions – are opening a decent and safe home thanks to the management of the National Government.

The President of the Republic, Daniel Noboa Azin, delivered the new 100% subsidized houses of the Releche Productive Community Housing Project, changing the lives of 67 people.

“Having a house is the heart of a home, it is the heart of a family and it is the heart of a better life, especially for children and young people,” said the President; and emphasized that “in the New Ecuador that we want to build, this must stop being an exception” since guaranteeing adequate housing must be a State policy.

In the homes delivered, which are part of the Social Interest Housing Projects of the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing (Miduvi), the National Government invested approximately USD 31,600 for each family. The 2 and 3 bedroom homes have all the basic services and have a place with children’s games, a multi-use court and parking spaces.

The Minister of Urban Development and Housing, Humberto Plaza, added that this housing complex also has a communal area to strengthen tourism ventures in the sector. Due to its strategic location, on the road that ascends to El Altar, economic growth is expected for the residents grouped in the “Releche Productive Community.”

“That is why we work every day, to reduce the housing deficit that exists in Ecuador and prevent people from living in places that are not suitable for a human being (…). “We are working as a team for this New Ecuador,” said Plaza.

For her part, Zaida Rovira, Minister of Economic and Social Inclusion, assured that, previously, those who received the bonuses could not access other rights from the State. However, thanks to the government of President Noboa, those who receive the Joaquín Gallegos Lara Bonus have their own house. “The social cabinet is complying with the presidential guidelines: the center of all policies is the human being and even more so people in vulnerable conditions.”

In this framework, the Head of State highlighted the coordinated work between the different levels of government to crystallize works for the benefit of citizens. Precisely, the Municipal Decentralized Autonomous Government of Penipe donated the land where this housing project is built. “This is the New Ecuador, which does not have political flags, which works in coordination with all tendencies in favor of citizens,” Noboa stressed.

Carlos Imba, president of the Releche community, thanked the President of the Republic for expediting this work that opens new life opportunities for families, especially for those who had to live in stables due to the loss of their home in a flood. “Welcome to this beautiful house. We have an open heart for you (…). Rest assured that we will support you,” he said.

During the event, the President was emphatic in highlighting that his administration, in this short period, has created jobs and combated narcoterrorists. For this reason, he urged citizens to support this management that day after day demonstrates positive changes for Ecuadorians. “For this reason, on April 21 we will go to the polls to participate in the popular consultation that will allow us to lay the foundations for security, peace and development,” he concluded.
