Greco-Roman wrestler of the Azerbaijani national team Taleh Mammadov announced the time when he will retire.
İdman.biz reports that the 34-year-old athlete spoke about this in the “İdman Bizdə” program. He said that he would soon end his speeches. According to the wrestler, his goal from now on will be to train good wrestlers:
“I have always competed in the Olympic weight category. Recently I moved to 63 kg. I was getting older, and an athlete could only lose weight 2-3 times a year. But it affects the performance. I felt that if I lost weight to 60 kg, then I will fail. Once I did it, it didn’t work out, and I thought that it’s not worth crossing the path of young people. At 63 kg, everything was done the way I wanted.”
He said that, like every athlete, an Olympic medal was his dream:
“I won all the medals. But he could not win an Olympic medal. After that, I will try to help the team before the Games. I will retire after Paris 2024. I will train students so that they will give me an Olympic medal.”
It should be noted that Taleh Mamedov is a winner of the World and European Championships.
