The Minister of the Environment, Fernando López, reported that the State of Environmental Emergency has been decreed in Lake Coatepeque, which is due to all the conditions that have occurred in the water body, in accordance with articles 54 of the Law of Environment. said government entity.
“What it is about is regulating all activities, as well as implementing a plan for an integrated solution, which is being executed in coordination with other government institutions,” said the official.
He explained that there are activities prohibited by law and within that they have sent several files to the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic for legal action; However, all measures and actions will be coordinated by the Ministry of the Environment to guarantee the ecological preservation of the Coatepeque Lake basin.
“The only purpose of this declaration is to rescue the water body and so that we can have the ecosystem that all Salvadorans deserve,” he pointed out.
