The White House responded to the partial Israeli military withdrawal from the southern Gaza Strip by saying it was more about the need to rest and re-equip personnel than to prepare for new operations.
White House national security coordinator John Kirby told ABC that Israeli troops had been in the combat zone for four months and needed to rest and re-equip. He noted that it is difficult to say what exactly this development of events indicates.
The White House statement came after Israel withdrew all its troops from the southern Gaza Strip, including the city of Khan Yunis. The IDF said it had left only one brigade in the area, but significant forces would continue operations in the rest of the enclave.
The head of the Israeli government, Benjamin Netanyahu, in turn, pointed out that the fighting in the Gaza Strip will not stop until the terrorist group Hamas is completely destroyed. Also, one of the main goals of the operation in the enclave is the release of all hostages.
Earlier, Cursor wrote that the head of the Israeli Ministry of Defense, Yoav Galant, explained the withdrawal of troops from Khan Yunis by the need to prepare for an offensive operation on Rafah.
