After English batsman Harry Brooke withdrew from this year’s IPL due to personal reasons, Delhi was worried. Moreover, even after five matches, the team did not replace Brooke. It was assumed, do not take. However, dismissing all speculations, Delhi has taken South African pacer Lizard Williams as his replacement.
Delhi confirmed the inclusion of Lizard in a statement on social media today (April 8). This is the first time this 30-year-old pacer has been called up to the IPL. Lizard Williams is joining Rishabh Pant’s team at a base price of Rs 50 lakh.
Lizard has played 11 T20 matches for the national team so far. He took 16 wickets at an average of 23.19 and an economy of 9.59. The pacer, who made his international debut in 2021, has played two Tests and four ODIs for South Africa.
Delhi took Brook in the team for four crore rupees in this season. However, this English batsman removed himself from the IPL citing personal reasons. Later, he said that he had withdrawn himself due to the death of a family member.
Meanwhile, Delhi is not in an advantageous position in this season. They have won one out of five matches. They beat Chennai Super Kings at home. Rishabh’s team is at the bottom of the list with two points.
