(StrømsgodsetRosenborg 1–0) It was not Ole Sæter (28) who ended up in the spotlight in Drammen.

The adventurous long shot and the subsequent interview became the big talking point in the first round of the Eliteserien.

But even though Sæter played havoc after entering the series premiere, he was once again placed on the bench in Drammen after missing a large part of the season run-up.

– The reason is that we thought it was better to start with other players. We thought it gave us the best chance to win the game, says Rosenborg coach Alfred Johansson to VG.

– Are there physical reasons or other things?

– Both and. It is about the minutes we have on him that we have to treat wisely. He must continue to train well, as he is doing now, to be able to start, Johansson replies.

– I never agree that I should not start, of course, but I am such a professional that those ahead of me should of course have my support, says Sæter to VG.

– What does it take for you to start?

– You have to ask the head coach about that. There is probably a good reason for that. Sverre Nypan had a good match last time and we win that match and then I understand that we are trying.

– So it’s not just physical things that prevent you from starting?

– I don’t think there are any physical things that stop me. I have said that I am ready for ninety minutes, when Sverre is preferred ahead of me it is perfectly fine until the next game. Even if I disagree, I have to respect that.

When Sæter was first allowed to come on after 59 minutes, he and Rosenborg immediately received a cold shower.

Estates wing-back Logi Tómasson had repeatedly expressed his displeasure at not getting the ball on the left, and perhaps showed why when Herman Stengel’s cross landed right at his feet.

The ball bounced once before he hammered it into the far corner.

Both before and after the scoring, it was a relatively evenly played game at Marienlyst, where both teams had their periods where they created chances.

– I think we played a good match today. It is frustrating to be left with zero points and zero goals today. The feeling we have is that we should have won, says Johansson.

While Rosenborg were very patient in their style of play, Strømsgodset often opted for more direct passes and quick turns.

In the next round, Rosenborg will take on HamKam, while Strømsgodset coach Jørgen Isnes will have a reunion with his old club YMCA.
