Complex routines are the basis for Kevin Penev to win three medals from the world cup of gymnastics in Osijek. The national team, which already has a quota for the Olympic Games in Paris, returned from Croatia with gold on rings and bronze on floor and vault.
“I didn’t expect to win the gold medal on rings. On floor and vault, I had expectations that I could take honors because I performed my new vault.
My land combination is also complicated, I added another series. I tried them out during qualifying, but the cleanest play came in the finals. After the World Cup I worked a lot. Every day I trained and really wanted to increase the difficulty in all the routines. I’m happy with this race,” said Kevin Penev.
He is of the opinion that his brother Eddie Penev can also get a visa for the Olympics.
“My brother works a lot, he is ambitious. I think he has a great chance to win a quota in the last competition. I hope he is lucky and gets a third visa for Bulgaria. His competition is next week.
In addition, he is also preparing for the European Championship. It looks like we will have a very strong team in Italy, but I can’t say what will happen. Something can always happen. But at the European one I will bet on these combinations again”, concluded Kevin Penev.
