Telegram Messenger Inc., which owns the messenger of the same name, received a minimum preliminary valuation of $30 billion before going public.

As Day.Az reports with reference to Gazeta.ru, Telegram founder Pavel Durov spoke about this in an interview with the Financial Times (FT).

This assessment of the messenger was given by potential investors and funds wishing to purchase Telegram shares. It is not reported when exactly Telegram will go public, but Durov noted that he is studying this possibility.

During a conversation with reporters, the head of the company also said that Telegram’s audience currently amounts to approximately 900 million monthly active users. Servicing each user of the company costs $0.7 per year. Thus, Telegram spends about $630 million annually on maintaining infrastructure.

Durov suggested that Telegram could become a profitable service this year. According to him, a powerful impetus to the self-sufficiency of the service in 2023 was given by the launch of the Telegram Premium paid subscription.

Financial Times sources believe that Telegram will begin attempting to enter an IPO in the United States after the company reaches obvious profits, as well as when favorable market conditions are restored.
