jpnn.comJAKARTA – Chairperson of the Indonesian National Youth Committee (KNPI) Putri Khairunnisa asked that Anwar Usman be reinstated as Chair of the Constitutional Court (MK) in order to maintain the dignity of the judicial institution.

“In order to maintain the dignity of the Constitutional Court, we urge that the position of Chairman of the Constitutional Court be returned to Mr. Anwar Usman,” he said in his press statement, Monday (8/4).

The first woman to become Chair of the KNPI considers that the removal of judges from the position of Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court is not regulated by the regulations.

He said that the Constitutional Court or PMK Regulations only regulate verbal and written warnings and dishonorable dismissal (PTDH) as punishment for judges who violate ethics.

Putri said that every judge has the right to appeal when a verdict is handed down, including the PTDH decision.

However, he said, Anwar Usman had no right to defend himself after being convicted of violating ethics and removed from his position as Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court.

“In the decision to remove the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court, the AU was not given the right to defend itself and file an appeal, the AU was silenced and its character was killed,” he said.

Putri also considered it strange that the MKMK trial decision decided that Anwar Usman violated ethics so that President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) was removed from his position as Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court.

KNPI General Chairwoman Putri Khairunnisa asked that the position of Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK) be returned to Anwar Usman.
