They will begin to carry out more controls in Caribbean port terminals to “decontaminate drug loads.” They will be part of the measures socialized by the Vice Minister of Security and Defense Policies, Daniela Gómez Rivas. Who led a meeting with the Military Forces, Metropolitan Police of Barranquilla and the Government of Atlántico.

The meeting served to define strategies that help draw up a roadmap that mitigates crimes such as livestock and/or agricultural extortion.

“The Vice Minister of Security and Defense Policies, @DaniGomezRivas, regional authorities and the military and police leadership of the Caribbean, held a meeting with banana and palm producer unions. To coordinate interagency strategies, in order to avoid contamination of their cargoes for export and address public order problems in their production areas,” indicated the Ministry of Defense in its X. account.

In this sense, the governor of Atlántico, Eduardo Verano, explained that during the meeting the main risks were also announced. What entrepreneurs are exposed to is the systematic theft of their products, not only on farms and plots. But also in the process of transportation and/or transfer to the different port terminals.

«We are listening very carefully to what concerns there are regarding security. They are presenting each of the different activities to us. With clear and concrete examples that have happened to them within the framework of their activity, in order to act in defense not only of their productive devices. Because we know that their processing plants could be threatened, but also that transportation to the ports,” explained Verano.

There, marketing areas are also included. That they would be being hit by the actions of criminal gangs that, in many cases, do not allow crops for export to prosper.
