This was stated by Norwegian Defense Minister Bjørn Arild Gram, the rbc.ua portal reports, citing the Finnish publication Iltalehti.

According to the minister, the establishment of a new NATO ground forces headquarters will allow “to use the results of the membership of all Nordic countries in the Alliance”.

“I hope we will be on the same team and part of the same regional defense plan.” Therefore, the Nordic countries will have a common means of deterrence and defense,” noted BAGram.

According to the publication, the headquarters will be located in the city of Mikel in the south of Finland, which is about 100 km from the border with Russia. It is noted that the new headquarters will be subordinate to the Joint Forces Command in Norfolk (USA). It is reported that at least 375 officers from NATO countries will work in Mikel.

April 4, 2023 Finland officially became a member of NATO. The country’s flag was raised in front of the headquarters of the organization.

After that, Russia’s border with NATO increased by 1,340 km. The Kremlin has threatened Finland with a “retaliation” if it joins the Alliance, saying it will allegedly “not provide security for Europe”.
