The case is updated!
Brann hosted Fredrikstad for their first home game of the season. It happened to a large turnout at Brann Stadion, and the red shirts were to try to take their second straight victory this season.
But Fredrikstad shocked the people of Bergen, and won 2-0 at Brann Stadium. It didn’t happen without drama, because the audience and commentator Øyvind Alsaker thought they took too much time.
– It borders on parody. Every dead ball, a player has gone down for the count, commented Alsaker.
Sunday’s two-goal scorer Stian Stray Molde was delighted with the match. Nevertheless, he made an admission:
– It might be too much. We may be taking a little too much time, but you have to do it to win, he says in an interview with TV 2.
Viaplay’s football expert Lars Tjærnås also reacted to what he saw.
– FFK today, Viking yesterday, plus several others only do what the judges allow. Lies down, breaks the rhythm and gets paid. But: The judges must be much stricter, he signed X during the fight.
Horneland answers about the time delay
FFK’s head coach Mikkkjal Thomassen himself claimed that it was not a tactic to lie down during several set pieces. However, he admitted that they would take their time and not stress when they had set pieces.
Horneland will not focus on delaying time.
– I don’t think anything of it. I am concerned with how we act as a team. Fredrikstad gets the rhythm into the match in its own way, says Horneland to TV 2.
He is then asked again by a reporter, where he asks Horneland to say something about the use of time at FFK.
– I clearly have an opinion about it, but I don’t want to focus on it now. We have lost a football match, and we have not earned ourselves to manage the match on our terms, says the Brann boss.
– A shock for Brann
It was the people from Bergen who took control, and although the goals did not come, it was they who had the initiative at home.
Nevertheless, towards the end of the game, it was Fredrikstad who took the lead at Brann Stadion. It was Stian Stray Molde who put the ball in the goal from close range after a very good preparation from Maï Traore.
– It’s a shock for Brann! exclaimed TV 2’s football expert Simen Stamsø Møller.
– It is a picture of brave Fredrikstad, which bets a lot and sends a lot of people forward, the expert continued.
Furthermore, FFK were good, but many will also claim they were cynical. The Brann supporters booed what they believed to be time delay on several occasions. The Brann bench also seemed frustrated at times.
Fredrikstad must be said to have had one of the tougher season openings you can get. They opened the season at home against Bodø/Glimt, which ended in a loss. Their second match was thus against Brann i Bergen.
– Stands and sleeps
The home team had a few good chances, but a fierce storming towards the FFK goal left them waiting. The visitors also resisted well when they had to defend their own goal.
Instead, it was the Eastfoldings who were to chop again. It was once again Stray Molde who were clever and made it 2-0.
– They are back in the Eliteserien with a real bang, commented TV 2’s Øyvind Alsaker.
Stamsø Møller was critical of the Bergens’ defensive play.
– Brann is sleeping, and they don’t pick up the players in front of the goal. It is life-threatening when you meet Fredrikstad, said the expert.
Brann continued to push for a score, and a full 13 minutes were added as a result of a lot of stoppages in the game.
They have only won once in Bergen in the last 50 years, and that was in 2011.
