Alexandros Papadiamantis’ short story “Woman Floating”, which was presented in Athens, at the listed building of the Society of Friends of Panagiotis Kanellopoulos, in Plaka by the theater group “Angelopetria”, directed by Arkadias Psaltis, travels to “Scene 125” (within KE.PA .BI 125) in Ioannina, for only two performances on Friday 12 and Saturday 13 April, at 9 pm.
On the small island, early 1900s, sailors’ wives are looking for ways to make up for what they are not allowed to feel, think, express, dream. Intense temperaments, complex psyches, they live secret lives, take on social roles, squeeze and suffocate within them. The show “Woman floating” explores through Karavokyrou, the heroine of the short story, the need to overcompensate loneliness with substance addictions.
Papadiamantis, with humor, a penetrating look and sensitivity reveals the invisible. In a way that they are never revealed. But they have already been said. And let all this be full of pure love and compassion for man.
The direction is by Arkadia Psaltis, who shares the stage with Eleftheria Loupasaki.
