DThe five fire brigades of the Grafenwörth subsection had to complete a joint exercise on the evening of April 4th. The assumption was that there was a fire in the SeneCura social center in Grafenwörth.
Above all, the very large and winding structure of the care facility placed high demands on the firefighters. “In the event of a fire, there are likely to be a number of people affected who are hardly mobile or who misjudge the danger. “In addition, there is the challenge of quickly establishing a functioning operational site organization and communication,” says press spokesman Manfred Ploiner, describing the goals of the exercise.
The fire was believed to have broken out in the laundry. For the firefighters, this meant a wide range of technical skills, because safe procedures in the event of building fires, tactics for searching for missing people and rapid ventilation of smoke-filled areas were required.
During the course of the exercise, the situation was expanded to a ward in the social center on the second floor and smoke was assumed to spread. The main challenge there was to seal off the smoke, dissipate it quickly and find and rescue the people who were still in the smoke-filled area.
After successfully completing all of the exercise objectives, the firefighters from SeneCura Grafenwörth were invited to drinks and snacks. Press spokesman Ploiner: “We would also like to thank the team led by Gerlinde Obermayer for their great support in preparing and carrying out the exercise.”
