Against each other in the present. However, the past and the future could diverge. On Tuesday, at 9pm, Real Madrid and Manchester City will face each other in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals. Erling Haaland and Jude Bellingham will also clash: teammates in Dortmund, opponents in the Champions League, possible teammates in the future. The two are in fact very good friends and Bellingham is trying to convince Haaland to join him in Madrid.
history

In January 2020 Haaland left Salzburg to go to Dortmund. Only six months later the yellow and blacks also took Bellingham from Birmingham. The two bonded immediately: they got along very well on the pitch, but their interpersonal relationship was also immediately profound. In September 2021, Borussia won the first match of the Champions League group stage, conquering the Besiktas pitch. It ended 2-1, the first German goal was scored by Bellingham, the second by Haaland. At the end of the match the Norwegian striker was interviewed on the sidelines, but was interrupted by Bellingham who gave him a kiss on the cheek live on television: “Jude is exceptional – said Haaland laughing -. And he is just 18 years old, three years younger than to me. I think it’s incredible how strong he is. Truly incredible.”
the break up
—
The English midfielder, at the time of Haaland’s farewell, who moved to Manchester City, never hid his disappointment: “I loved our old number 9, I continue to love him and I will love him forever. We are talking about an exceptional player but also of a wonderful person, I will miss him so much.” The two found each other because they were both young, both strong, both foreigners, both ambitious. They often went to dinner together to compare notes, and although they have two very different characters, they understood that they were similar. They had decided to take advantage of the springboard provided by Borussia Dortmund to get to play for the biggest clubs in Europe. They shared the dream. Now they will have to compete for it. But the goal of both is to return, sooner or later, to playing together. And to no longer be against each other.
