The Russian Investigative Committee has announced that it is launching an investigation into allegations of terrorist financing involving the United States and its allies, world agencies and BTA reported.

At the request of a group of deputies from the State Duma and other persons, the Russian investigation has carried out an investigation into the financing of terrorist activity by senior officials of the USA and NATO countries. A criminal investigation has been launched, reports the Investigative Committee.

The investigation will concern the sources and movement of funds worth several million dollars, as well as the possible involvement of officials, public and commercial organizations from Western countries, notes AFP. The Russian investigation claims that the intermediary in the transfer of the funds was the dissolved oil company “Burisma”, which operated on the territory of Ukraine. Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, was a member of its board of directors.

According to Russian investigators, the funds have been used for years to carry out acts of terrorism in Russia and abroad, with the aim of removing prominent political and public figures and causing economic damage.

“Furthermore, the relationship of the immediate executors of terrorist acts with foreign leaders, organizers and sponsors is being investigated on an investigative and operational basis,” the announcement said.

The investigators do not indicate specific facts, notes AFP. The agency recalls that Moscow believes, for example, that Kiev was involved in the jihadist attack on the Crocus City Hall concert hall in the Moscow region, in which 144 people died. Ukraine and the West reject these claims, which have not yet been confirmed, especially since the Islamic State group claimed responsibility for the attack, adds AFP.

Hunter Biden’s work at Burisma has also been a controversial topic in the US election campaign, with his father’s Republican opponents using it to accuse the president’s family of dubious activity.

In February, a former FBI informant was arrested on charges of fabricating false corruption charges against Joe and Hunter Biden, AFP recalls. Alexander Smirnov, 43, is suspected of passing on false information about the Biden family provided by Russian intelligence services.
