Savings plans risk curbing growth in France, warns the OFCE

The French economy is struggling. And the savings plans announced by the executive to restore very degraded public finances risk slowing down its recovery, warns the French Observatory of Economic Conditions.

According to OFCE forecasts presented on Wednesday, the cancellation of 10 billion euros of budgetary appropriations this year should remove 0.2 points of GDP in 2024, while the 20 billion euros of budgetary adjustment already promised by the executive for next year (the measures are not known at this stage) could have an impact on growth, estimated at 0.6 points.
