The James Webb telescope sent its first images back to Earth

by time news

The James Webb Orbital Telescope, launched by NASA at the end of December, transmitted the first images taken to Earth. Photos are 18 blurry points of light. This is stated in the statement of the agency.

These points are important for camera setup as they represent 18 camera segments. Within a month, experts will adjust the camera so that all points match into a single picture.

The telescope began taking photographs on February 2. The process of setting up and getting the image took 25 hours. NASA plans to get the first scientific images from James Webb by summer.
