(ANSA) – ROME, 08 APR – “They dream of making great progress, inside a house built with environments tailor-made for them, where they can be followed by operators capable of reading their needs but also their potential and where there is space for their families, in order to embark on a path that accompanies them throughout their lives”. These are the deaf-blind children who have been supported by the Lega del Filo d’Oro for 60 years, relaunching the #spaceaisogni campaign of the Lega del Filo d’Oro, to support the activities of the Foundation’s Diagnostic Centre. It is a unique structure in Italy where an interdisciplinary psycho-pedagogical and medical team develops a personalized educational-rehabilitative path for each user, making specialist skills available for the diagnostic investigation, evaluation and early treatment of children under 6 years. It is the place where the first meeting between the Foundation and deafblind and psychosensory impaired people takes place: a meeting, the families say, which changes their lives, because after having heard so many “no”, for the first time here they discover that beyond limits there is a world of possibilities, even for them.
Everyone can contribute to the campaign with a landline call or a text message to the solidarity number 45514, supporting the activities of the Centre, which since September 2022 has doubled the available places, thus allowing it to welcome no longer four, but eight people at the same time together with the their families, reducing waiting lists. In 2023, the Foundation’s Diagnostic Center treated 145 users, carrying out 55 early interventions.
“By doubling the management of the Diagnostic Center, today we are able to reduce waiting lists and therefore intervene earlier on children, managing to obtain the best responses to educational and rehabilitative treatments and at the same time offer targeted rehabilitation programs to adults to their complex condition of multiple disabilities. – declares Rossano Bartoli, President of the Lega del Filo d’Oro ETS Foundation – Supporting the “Space for dreams” campaign means guaranteeing a substantial improvement in the quality of life for many deafblind and psychosensory and multi-disabled children and adults to their families, responding in a concrete way to their specific needs”.
