Coach Thiago Carpini held a press conference this Wednesday (10), at MorumBIS, and evaluated Tricolor’s 2-0 victory over Cobresal in a duel valid for the second round of Group B at CONMEBOL Libertadores.
“We respect Cobresal, we had good numbers and we won the victory. We had more ball possession and more shots”, said the coach, who highlighted the team’s preparation for their first triumph in the South American competition.
“It was our best week of work. The size of these guys’ commitment, the magnitude of understanding the delicate moment that São Paulo is going through due to a sequence of bad results, elimination in the Campeonato Paulista… we were very upset, as were our fans”, stated the commander, who added.
“A debut against Talleres, in Argentina, with three changes in the first half that ruin any game plan, everything changed. And even so, I think that at least one point in Argentina was deserved. So, internal expectations and frustration were created for us and the fans for expecting São Paulo to debut with a victory”, he analyzed.
In the confrontation with the Chileans, Tricolor found the net with André Silva and Calleri in the final stage. São Paulo now occupies second place in the group, with three points.
The São Paulo team’s next clash of the season will be their debut in the Brasileirão, against Fortaleza, at Morumbis, on Saturday (13), at 9pm.
