Some members sent an email with seven points criticizing the work of the current president of the Albos.
Although Liga de Quito did not have football activity this week, due to the postponement of its two LigaPro matches, there is movement at the leadership level. This Monday a letter appeared from a group of club members criticizing the management of president Isaac Álvarez and calling on other members to demand answers.
Said document was sent by email and the futbolecuador.com portal had access to said document. In it, seven points are marked where its authors question the ability of Álvarez and his group to direct the reins of the Quito institution.
It must be remembered that at the beginning of the year, the Special Football Commission, led by Esteban Paz, stopped working. Therefore, Álvarez, president elected in February 2023, remained the absolute leader of the Albo project.
Since that happened, the manager’s decisions have been constantly criticized. Like the departure of Luis Zubeldía, Paolo Guerrero, Mauricio, Martínez, among other players. And the arrival of Josep Alcácer, the non-registration of Facundo Rodríguez for the Cup Winners’ Cup, even the positive doping of Óscar Zambrano.
These are some of the topics that were addressed in the letter, but they also put the economic part on the table. The debts that the club has and that have not been paid yet, is one of the points highlighted.
Isaac Álvarez, president of the League.
«The unfulfilled commitment of Isaac Álvarez, regarding the payment of the football debt to the Country Club, is another example of the lack of responsibility and commitment to our club.. This act of omission has deprived our institution of resources that could have been used for significant improvements,” says part of the email.
«The debt with the SRI that amounts to more than 6 million dollars and the recent “Zambrano” case have exacerbated the club’s financial situationevidencing the lack of experience and management capacity on the part of Isaac Alvarez, his son and his team,” the letter adds.
They also assure that Álvarez has “unfulfilled promises,” They have lacked significant initiatives in favor of the institution and question the management of the football team. Therefore, the call is to demand results and do not close the possibility of calling elections.
«Based on the facts presented, we call for action on the part of all members of Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Quito. It is imperative to demand transparency, responsibility and management that reflects the values and history of our institution. We consider it necessary to initiate a review process and, if necessary, collect signatures to call new elections that allow us to guide LDUQ towards a promising future worthy of its legacy,” the letter closes.

Complete letter sent to the members of Liga de Quito
Dear Members of the Quito University Sports League Club
From our position as concerned members of the Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Quito community, we feel compelled to address you with the purpose of exposing a series of situations that, in our opinion, deserve immediate attention for the well-being and future of our dear institution, LDUQ
1. It is public knowledge that Isaac Alvarez, after being elected President at the General Assembly of Members last January, has manifested behavior that challenges the standards of honesty and transparency that this institution represents. It has been evident that the actions and decisions taken during his mandate have not only been predetermined but also influenced by individuals with particular interests, such as G. Paredes, K. Escobar, E. Escobar, along with S. Barragán, whose participation indirectness raises questions about conflicts of interest. This situation forces us to reflect on the integrity of the decisions taken under his presidency.
2. Isaac Alvarez’s apparent inattention to the well-being and progress of our club has generated concern among members. Broken promises, a lack of meaningful initiatives and questionable management of the football team are just some of the areas where his leadership has fallen short. This series of mistakes has not only harmed LDUQ’s economy but has also tarnished the prestige of our institution.
3. The unfulfilled commitment of Isaac Alvarez, regarding the payment of the soccer debt to the country club, is another example of the lack of responsibility and commitment to our club. This act of omission has deprived our institution of resources that could have been used for significant improvements.
4. The debt with the SRI that amounts to more than 6 million dollars and the recent “Zambrano” case have exacerbated the financial situation of the club, revealing the lack of experience and management capacity on the part of Isaac Alvarez, his son and your team. This situation compromises not only the image of LDUQ but also our responsibility as partners to ensure the good course of our institution.
5. Regarding the administration of the school associated with the club, the direction of K. Escobar and J. Calderón has resulted in questionable decisions that have affected the educational quality and well-being of the students. The selection of food providers without due process and the decline in student numbers are aspects that require urgent review. You see more photos of the rector on RRSS than improvements.
6. The lack of credibility and trust in Isaac Alvarez’s leadership is palpable within a divided board. The inaction on fundamental problems and the absence of a competent football commission reflect poor management that affects all areas of our club. Is the settlement of the former workers of the previous football commission paid by the country club or the commission? The legal aspects of the transition must be clarified and sent to the partners as a form of transparency and respect for the partners.
7. We must mention a matter of public domain that affects the dynamics of the club: the relationship between president Isaac Alvarez and Miss Gabriela. This personal link has raised concerns due to his apparent unofficial role within the club, which is why he has an arrogant and authoritarian manner, especially with the members of OUR CLUB, which warrants a respectful but attentive review for the good of our community. .
Based on the facts presented, we call for action on the part of all members of Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Quito. It is imperative to demand transparency, responsibility and management that reflects the values and history of our institution. We consider it necessary to initiate a review process and, if necessary, collect signatures to call new elections that will allow us to guide LDUQ towards a promising future worthy of its legacy.
We appreciate your attention and hope to have your support to take the relevant measures to ensure the well-being and progress of our beloved Quito University Sports League.
