World Autism Awareness Day.

In a gesture of solidarity and commitment, students and teachers from Zone 3 came together to commemorate World Autism Awareness Day, on April 2, highlighting the importance of inclusion and respect for diversity. In the region, 475 students with autism are served, distributed in different provinces: 126 in Chimborazo, 88 in Cotopaxi, 67 in Pastaza and 194 in Tungurahua. On the occasion of this date, the Educational Districts of Zonal Coordination 3 organized a series of recreational, recreational and pedagogical activities. Through the Inclusion Support Units (UDAI), specialized support is provided in educational psychology, psychopedagogy, special education, child psychology and pedagogy. These units are responsible for evaluating, raising awareness, advising and guiding managers, teachers and families of students diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). María Eugenia Alarcón, teacher, shared her experience: “It is a great satisfaction to work with children with autism. We serve them with love, patience and vocation, being a daily learning experience.” Paulina Salazar, Zonal 3 Education coordinator, highlighted “the commitment to safeguard the rights of students and strengthen social inclusion, respect for diversity and attention to their needs to eliminate the barriers that limit learning.” Katty Allauca, Inclusion Support teacher at the Sigchos District, emphasized: “Let’s make our world a better place, where we all respect and accept diversity, an inclusive world with equal opportunities.” This initiative is part of the policy promoted by the Ministry of Education, which guarantees the educational inclusion of students with Specific Educational Needs, both in regular and specialized establishments.
