He is afraid to go out on the street, ride a bike, even in the park.” This is what Rumyana Nikolova says, who was hit by a taxi while crossing the street with her child on April 6 in the capital’s Tolstoy district, and the driver ran away.
The incident went viral on social media on Wednesday. Video shows how, just before they can cross the street, they are hit by a taxi and fall to the ground. The driver continues on his way without checking if they are okay.
“After the impact, I have bruises on my arm, leg and waist. Thank God, we escaped easily. The child escaped only with a lot of stress, shock and panic. He cried a lot. He is healthy,” explained the mother in the program “The Day Begins” on BNT.
The police explained that they sent a team immediately after the incident. An ambulance was also on the scene. The woman and the child were examined on the spot. Several cameras were also reviewed.
The driver was identified and sanctioned with an act. A fine of BGN 300 for not letting pedestrians pass by and revocation of the driver’s license for fleeing an accident.
